Felten was not only the author of the temple but also his parishioner. The court master who enjoyed the respect of Empress Catherine the Great, is also famous for building the Palace Square, the Small and the Great Hermitage, the interiors of the Winter Palace, the Chesme palace, or the cast-iron railing of the Summer Garden. Anne's Church, replaced the wooden building with a stone one and designed the church in a Neoclassical style.
The name of the street where Annenkirche is located, derives from the German word "Kirche" which means "church". Anne's Lutheran Church, or Annenkirche, was built in Saint Petersburg in 1779. Many years later a popular Russian rock band "Leningrad", notorious for vulgar lyrics, performed here. Among the first church parishioners was Carl Fabergé, a Russian jeweller known for the famous Fabergé eggs. The oldest Lutheran church in Saint Petersburg is a place for admirers of rock culture, contemporary art, and the movie "Brother", some episodes of which were filmed in the courtyard of Annenkirche.
